Trauma Therapy

Contact

You don’t just “get over” trauma. You work through it—on purpose, with help, and with the right tools.
Trauma doesn’t always show up as one event. Sometimes it’s what happened to you. Other times it’s what never happened—the safety you never had, the voice you were never allowed to use, the truth that was ignored. Either way, trauma rewires how you think, feel, and relate. And if it’s never addressed, it will run your life from the background.
Trauma therapy is where we stop pretending it didn’t matter.
We look at what actually happened, how it shaped you, and what it’s still costing you.
Then we do the work—untangling your story so you can start choosing what happens next.
This isn’t about blame. It’s about ownership—of your healing, your future, and your identity.
You don’t have to stay in survival mode. You don’t have to carry what was never yours to carry.
You’re not broken. You’re responding to pain that made sense at the time—but doesn’t have to define the rest of your life.
And yes, it’s hard. But healing is hard too—and it’s far more worth it.

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT)

Your foundation and framework.
We start here—and we often revisit it throughout.

Z
Benefits
  • Teaches you to name and reframe harmful thoughts
  • Builds emotional regulation and coping skills
  • Provides structure when everything else feels chaotic
  • Flexible and adaptable for all ages
Z
When to Use It:
  • As a first step in trauma recovery
  • Throughout your therapy process (even when integrating other approaches)
  • When you need clarity, stability, and practical tools to move forward
Z
Why I Use It:
TFCBT keeps the power in your hands. It helps you think clearly, respond wisely, and own your story without it owning you.

Prolonged Exposure (PE)

The gold standard for trauma resolution—especially PTSD.
It’s not quick, but it’s proven. And it works.

Z
Benefits
  • Backed by decades of research as the most effective trauma treatment
  • Helps you face memories without being overwhelmed by them
  • Reduces avoidance behaviors and flashbacks
  • Integrates TFCBT throughout the process for support and grounding
Z
When to Use It:
  • When you’re ready to work through your trauma with intentionality
  • When past events are still triggering physiological or emotional reactivity
  • When other therapies have helped but not resolved the core pain
Z
Why I Use It:
PE requires courage—but it delivers freedom. It teaches you how to face what happened, not just survive it. And with TFCBT woven in, we walk the process without rushing it.

Brain Change Trauma Therapies (EMDR, ETT)

Accessing deep trauma healing through the nervous system.
Sometimes the brain needs more than words.

Z
Benefits
  • Targets stored trauma through bilateral stimulation (EMDR) or light/color exposure (ETT)
  • Often reduces symptoms faster than talk therapy alone
  • Especially helpful for trauma that’s hard to verbalize
  • Can create rapid shifts in emotional and physiological reactivity
Z
When to Use It:
  • When trauma is “stuck” in the body and keeps triggering symptoms
  • When you’re struggling to access or express traumatic memories
  • As a supplement to cognitive or exposure-based therapy
Z
Why I Use It:
These are powerful tools—and I’m trained to use them well. But I often prefer the longer-lasting, more empowering results of TFCBT and PE, especially when the goal is to help you not just feel better, but be better long-term.

No single tool heals trauma. But the right approach, at the right time, with the right support—that’s where transformation happens.
You’re the one doing the healing.
These tools are just how we help you get there.
